Wrongful Death Lawsuit on Behalf of 9 Year-old child, Georgia Drowning Victim, Jakob Peters

In June of 2011, 9-year-old Jakob “J.J” Peters was swimming with friends in a private pond when he drowned.  On June 12, 2013, Forrest B. Johnson & Associates filed a wrongful death lawsuit in the Superior Court of Terrell County against Owen Parnacott, the owner of the six-foot deep man-made pond where young Jakob drowned.

The lawsuit alleges that Mr. Parnacott negligently maintained an attractive nuisance and failed to safeguard against the hidden dangers posed by the pond.  Jakob is represented in the lawsuit by his parents, Jacob Peters, Jr. and Mary Patricia Peters.

Family members describe Jakob as a very smart, sweet and outgoing young boy who dreamed of becoming a singer when he grew up.  He was loving and always gave everyone big hugs.  Jakob’s tragic death brings attention to the importance of landowners ensuring that ponds, pools and areas of water that are accessible to children have necessary safety barriers to protect against dangers such as drowning.
