SETTLEMENT OBTAINED FOR SURVIVING FAMILY
A RURAL HOSPITAL PATIENT DIES
While receiving in-patient hospital care, a patient was administered an overdose of medication by a nurse. The dosage of medication given was contrary to the amount ordered by the patient's treating physician. While hospital records confirmed the overdose, neither the hospital nor nurse was able to explain how the overdose occurred. A confidential settlement was obtained on behalf of the surviving family of the patient.
